Sprucing Up the TRUTH

The Bible is some 2,000 + years old.  Its truth predates the creation of man and extends into eternity.  After all of these year the WORD remains the same.  The timeless truths of God are not just a history lesson or an attempt to catalog the works of God.  These are the breathed words of God.  They are not bound by historically context and relevance.  They are as fresh today as when they were first penned.  This is what makes the Bible unique.  It is the truth of all we need for life now and eternity.

Sometimes people feel the need to dress it up or embellish it some.  To some how make it more relevant to todays modern, sophisticated man.  Truth does not need to be spruced up to make it more  attractive or relevant.  The TRUTH is that God’s word and His ways have never been popular or attractive.  The WORD made flesh was crucified.  God tell us that the gospel is a stumbling block and foolishness to an unbelieving world.

Jesus taught much through parables.   He taught in parables not to make the truth easier to understand but actual to hide it from the religious people of that day.  It was God’s judgment on a religion that had rejected the righteousness of God for one of their own making (Matthew  13:10-16).  One parable is key to understanding all of the other parables, The Sower and the Seeds ( Mark 4:13 And He said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How will you understand all the parables?).  The concept that there are some who out right reject God’s word, others who profess salvation but their conversion isn’t real.  When things get tough they fall away.  The ones who get saved – truly saved always produce godly fruit from a radically changed heart.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

The TRUTH stands on its own regardless of places, times, governments or war.  It only a lie that has to be dressed up or embellished.  The church cannot change the message without misrepresenting Christ.
